Alan C. Pape, a historic restoration consultant, grew up in a German/American home in Milwaukee. He says he has “always loved museums and outdoor rustic stuff.” Meet and learn about Pape’s joyful life of discovering the world of rustic and ethnic architecture and how he helped build Old World Wisconsin, the state’s largest outdoor ethnic museum. Alan will have his newly published “Cabin Living,” a book of memories and 140 pencil and ink illustrations, available for purchase and signing.

Our group launched a new website in 2015. Like everything else in the world of technology, it has become outdated.  A small group of volunteers have worked through the winter to move it to a new, responsive design that will work more easily with phones, tablets, laptops, and everything in-between.  The web address (URL) remains the same: pommerscher.org.  Come to this meeting to learn more about it!

Saturday, May 9, 2026  1:00 p.m.   What’s in a Sausage? – Lindenwood Community Center AND Zoom “Old Germantown”, a local restaurant and brewery nestled in a 120 acre historic farmstead, specializes in a farm to table menu. Sausages, lagers, and ale are made “in house”. On this day, owner Scott Sommer will describe the process of researching the recipes and making sausage. He will emphasize knackwurst and others that began in the northern German region. Those attending in person will be offered samples of both sausage and beer!

Rev. Royal Natzke has researched and written multiple family histories. In this program, he will present some pitfalls to avoid and offer encouragement to continue your research.
